Flour Power

Whole wheat French rolls decorated with Japanese cherry blossoms. Very cross-cultural.

The icy weather (and my frigid apartment) inspired me to do a little bit of bread-baking.

Instead of "slashing" the tops of the whole wheat rolls, I decided to punch them with a sakura-shaped veggie cutter and then add poke little slashes with a tiny pearing knife.

Happy Holidays

Holiday post-card design.

Dimensions: 2's company, 3's a crowd.

With the Holidays gaining on me, I've been doing more thing-making than thing-drawing. I'm trying to give all hand-made gifts this year -- that is, gifts made from my hands. Until recently, crochet hooks and my trusty hot glue gun were the only things left in my arsenal. And since the things I've been making aren't flat, they don't scan well -- hense: No Pictures. ...til now!

I FINALLY received my sewing machine back (yay!) and have been working on some derby-inspired dolls. I'm planning on making the skate-boots out of stiff felt, but I'm not sure what to use for the wheels yet....I'm thinking of shellac'd candy discs. I'm also really excited about attaching the hair.

Derby 'tude.

I've also been teaching Esther to use the human potty. She's learned really fast! And I think she's really proud of it, because she likes to use it when I brush my teeth in the morning. Blech. But if it means I no longer have to be elbow-deep in kitty litter, it's well worth it. (I might also point out that the roll is empty because she unravelled it after her last bathroom visit....although she's not using litter, cat's still have a desire to bury their business, which means "digging" at the surroundings. Oh, well.)
